4.0 out of 5 stars Re: Problems with the disk.
This is a great book. Here are some points about the disk that someone else raised.

-The disk does NOT require windows 3.1

-The disk DOES require a Operating System with either DOS or a DOS Prompt.

-To get access to the contents of the disk just double click on (or type the name, and press enter) the 'ALLPAGES.BAT' file.

-What this does is extract all the graphs,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Requires Windows 3.1!!!!!!
This book requires something from the Windows 3.1 disk -- with no hint of where to obtain it.

It may well be a wonderful book if you've got a Windows 3.1 disk available -- but, since I don't, I had to return it. (Yes, there is a diskette in the book -- but the introduction specifically acknowledges that it does not include the required file(s) from Windows 3.1, and...

This review is from: Graph Paper from Your Computer or Copier with Disk (Paperback)

-What this does is extract all the graphs, grids, maps and other miscellaneous bits and pieces in *.BMP form on to your hard disk in a directory called 'GRAPH'.

-Then all you have to do is print them off with any graphics software (Windows Paint will do the job just fine).

The only complaint that I have is that the book was written by an American for Americans. There should also be an ISO version of the book which uses A4 Paper instead of (or as well as) the US Standard (Letter).

This book requires something from the Windows 3.1 disk -- with no hint of where to obtain it.

It may well be a wonderful book if you've got a Windows 3.1 disk available -- but, since I don't, I had to return it. (Yes, there is a diskette in the book -- but the introduction specifically acknowledges that it does not include the required file(s) from Windows 3.1, and that this is required for the diskette to work.)

The book may well be fantastic if you've got access to the Windows 3.1 disk -- but this seems a major turn-off since so many of us don't (given that Windows 3.1 was introduced on 5.25 inch diskettes, which won't even fit in current computers even if we could locate them.)
