5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for diverse learners, August 13, 2005

This book is awesome for students to increase their understanding of different concepts. I am using this in my classroom. Each student is on a different level, so I choose the organizer that will be best for each student. My students are learning the same concepts, but get the information on their level.

I would recommend this book to any educator or parent that wants to help increase skills for their child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Does the work for you!, January 4, 2007

I have taken many courses on differentiation and understand that students are learning at different levels, but meeting those individual student needs on a continuous basis is nearly an impossible task. Each reading strategy or concept in the book is tiered for three groups, with an organizer to guide the students thinking at their level; introductory, intermediate, and challenging. These organizers make the impossible...possible. The similar title for writing is just as useful as the reading. Both books have helped me to meet the needs of ALL students and keep me sane. These books reside on my desk; they are in constant use!

I teach 8th grade Language Arts with Basic Skills pushed in so more than 75% of my students are Basic Skills but I have a few higher level readers in there too. The reading levels range from 4.5 to post high school. In this book, there are 3 different levels for each separate skill with a graphic organizer for each level.I've used it for in class reading and for independent reading. I used the story map for an end of selection assessment. I haven't had a student complain about being unable to understand the directions. This book has made my job so much easier.
