About the Author

Alan W. Paeth is a professor of computer science at Okanagan University College in British Columbia. Previously, he was a research scientist specializing in VLSI technology at Xerox PARC. The principle architect of the first operational Pixelplanes silicon, he also fabricated the first Berkeley RISC and SGI Graphics Engine chips. His degrees span three calendar decades and three fields: Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science.

I'm the archivist for the free Graphics Gems code base on the web. I do it for free, because this code is so valuable. Others think so, too: there is an average of 100 hits a day on the site. Go look at the online list of what's in this volume to see if it's for you.

Highlights (for me) include polygon/cube intersection testing, a good polygon triangulator, and an entire z-buffering library.

The Mac version just has a different disk in the back - better is to get the code online, which has various bug fixes and improvements.
