Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

These are the same type of year-in-review design roundups that are produced by a number of publishers and are constantly used by graphic designers to inspire and point out new trends in their field. The difference is that these first-ever collections look beyond stodgy corporate identity campaigns and magazine layouts. New Media is a selection of the best of designs for a variety of media, including examples from the Internet, CD-ROMs, promotions, and prototypes. Digital Fonts is an international collection of new digital type by the fontagraphers themselves, complete with contact, information. If you serve designers, amature or professional, whether they work in paper or online, they will appreciate you buying these works and will refer to them regularly.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Reference For Leading-Edge Designers, February 15, 1997

This review is from: Graphis New Media 1: A Compilation of New Media Design (v. 1) (Hardcover)
This book will blow you away! From the beginning, it presents three very different introductions about New Media. Without having gone any further than the intros, the reader is hooked. The descriptions of New Media as it exists today are thought-provoking to say the least.

Once inside, there is very little confusion. The organization, supported by very intuitive diagrams, leads the reader from start to finish on actual projects. This is probably the best inspirational resource for anyone involved in charting, designing or developing interactive productions.

As a current Interface Designer in New Media, I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a desire to further their design abilities in this rapidly growing and exciting medium.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still relevant, November 14, 2011

I first caught glimpse of this in a used book store. After opening it, I realized it had been what I've always been searching for.

Compiled in the mid-1990s, this coffee table book showcases some of the best computer interface design in the industry. Although most of these UIs are outdated, it offers a unique view into the past which glorifies the work in a new, uncharted industry.

Personally, I've used this portfolio as inspiration on making great design. The concepts are still relevant, and show the once-was ingenuity in a fledging field. It's sad that most designers today can't take a hint from these applications.

5.0 out of 5 stars Maybe, the best web/multimedia design compilation., July 13, 1998

Few books shows as mutch good taste in their selection. Graphicly objetive It's not married with any astethic trend. Doesn't intent to teach the inside of new medias, just what can be done with them.
