Packaging arrived hard frozen and each of the six 1lb packs were vacuum sealed very nicely. I left one of the packs in the fridge over night to thaw since microwaving in plastic is not a good idea. The best test for ground meat for us is hamburger on a whole wheat bun with a salad and (shhhh don't tell) steak fries.
I noticed that the thawed bison had essentially NO fat, (also no gristle of any kind) so I added a scrambled egg for a binder to keep the burgers from breaking when turned. The resulting burgers were terrific. It was a test so no additional seasoning was added before the first bites. It brought back memories of the meat I ate as a child (a very long time ago). I will definitely be ordering this again. The next test will be chili and I'm really looking forward to that, but the burgers were a real treat. |
