It's was ok. Not completely what I ezpected. But it's nice. To God be the glory for muscians who want to share the Love of God through music. As a singer myself, I understant the hard work that it entails, I can also appreciate it.

This album is without a doubt one of the best gospel albums dropped this year!! Its definetely in the top 3! Coko totally outdid herself with this album! The anointing was thick on this cd like you wouldnt believe! I actually received this album on MY SAVIOURS BIRTHDAY, Christmas, and you know how we wake up at like 2:00, well I had to actually take the cd out by the third song I listened to because I was screaming so loud and praising that I was going to wake up the entire household, thats how good it is! Cokos voice is amazing! Her range and runs are out of this world!! But her anointing is the BEST thing because thats what destroys the yoke, you feel me? ENDOW ME almost had me in tears, Fantasia, Faith Evans, Coko, and Lil Mo killed that song to the fullest!! I was blown away. Theres something on here for everybody, worship, praise, slow jams, jams, everything. She had writers and producers from Donald Lawrence to Walter Hawkins to Warren Campbell! Basically this album is what a gospel album is suppose to sound like! Buy dont burn or copy, youll be glad you did.

I HAVE NOT STOPPED PLAYING THIS SONG SINCE THE FIRST SECOND THAT I HEARD IT. This song is truly annointed by God. Thank God for the musical genius who put together the collaboration of Coko, Faith, Lil Mo & Fantasia. It has brought tears of joy and happiness into my life. GOD BLESS YOU GIRLS, KEEP PRAISING HIM AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO DIRECT YOUR PATH. I AM PRAYING THAT THIS SONG WILL SOON BE PERFORMED LIVE (HOPEFULLY ON THE CELBRATION OF GOSPEL OR SOMETHING).

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, November 1, 2006
This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
I did a review on this CD a couple of days ago and I have no idea where it is. Anyway, I love this CD!!! It is filled with Coko's anointed voice over songs that are uplifting. I call this my "happy" CD. The songs are so encouraging. I love just about all of the songs on this CD. My favorites are Grateful (such a true message), Clap Your Hands, and she also has Midnight on here (the song she did with Brent Jones). Coko is overjoyed and it comes across in her singing and with every song. I hope that she will stay with Gospel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Superb JOB!, December 27, 2006
This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
I bought this album as soon as it was released. Coko SHUTS IT DOWN WITH THIS ALBUM! I absolutely love it from beginng to end. Her vocals are amazing. She sounds better than ever to me. She uses every bit of range that her voice has and she sounds wonderful doing it. The stand out track in my opinion is the "Hymn Medley" Coko belts out a note that Ive never heard her sing before. This cd is a must to your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Suprised...and GRATEFUL, too! =-), February 12, 2007

This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
I'm avid lover of gospel music, and a true '90s girl who loved the R&B and hip hop of that decade (which cannot be mentioned without SWV), so I was curious to hear what Ms. Coko was gonna do. But when I heard YouTube video of 'Endow Me' - one of my fave Clark Sisters' joint... Whew! I had to get it. I must admit, I was hoping that this wasn't one of those albums with one great song, and when I purchased my copy I was not disappointed! I love tracks #'s 1 thru 6, and the 'rock' song was a cool addition. Her soprano is so clear and she sounds like she had fun recording this! Though I love gospel, the overtone is not so 'churchy', but it is still great gospel music. I loved it so much that I sent out a review to my friends and a few of them have purchased it and like it as well. If you like MaryMary, Karen Clark Sheard, Fred Hammond, I think you'll enjoy Coko's GRATEFUL as much as I did. Stop thinking about it and get this cd! (I have never met her before in my life, so there is no personal gain or investment here, just love. Great job, Coko, and God bless!)

Coko, I just feel like you're such a blessing. I truly enjoyed every song on your album. I do have a favorite and I just can't stop playing it and that's "Endow Me". I've always said that you're such a talentative young lady and I'm going to continue to say it. You never let me down when it comes to your sing. God Bless.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grateful For Coko's Return, November 24, 2006
This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
A newly reborn spirit and a positive outlook on life have shaped 'Grateful', former SWV frontwoman Coko's second solo album. One thing Coko has not lost is that incredible voice. The woman can blow. 'Look at Me', a six minute joyous spiritual revival, is wrapped in lush insturmetation and Coko's soul rattling vocals. Blaring horns, hand claps, and delicious backing vocals catapult 'Mighty God' to the kind ebullient heights that would make any legendary gospel artist proud. 'Clap Your Hands' stomps and claps its way to a funky climax as horns blare and Coko reaches for those notes that will surely reach the heavens.

And then, Ladies and Gentlemen, Coko unleashes her showstopper. 'Endow Me'. Gathering some of the greatest voices in Rhythm and Blues to spread the message of God, the song is a soul rectifying testimony overflowing with some of the most incredible vocals anyone has ever heard. Fantasia, Faith Evans, Lil Mo', and Coko blaze through this nearly 7 minute track with the kind of passion that will leave you with chills down your spine and tears in your eyes. All of these women should be doing gospel because their voices are anointed. Never has a song affected me so deeply. All four ladies can blow, and I cannot wait to see them all tear the stage apart when they sing this live (If they ever do).

'The Reason'is a feel-good mid-tempo groove track. Coko's delicious voice warms the heart and her inspirational lyrics speak a universal message to all people to find the the thing in life that will give them inner peace and joy. 'I Get Joy' is a bona-fide jam. Coko injects the new jill grooves she perfected with SWV along with gorgeous harmonies bursting in the background.

The quiet storm ballad 'Holy' flows passionately from Miss Coko, it is a tranquil, gospel lullaby laced with beautiful strings, an amazing choir, and a gently cooing piano. Perhaps the most unique song on Grateful is 'Please Don't Forget', a dramatic, guitar infused song that has echoes of sorrow, anger, and pain. Nonetheless it is a stellar track and further proves Coko can sing anything. The woman is a true talent.

Whether or not you listen to gospel, any fan of Coko, or r&b for that matter, can appreciate this amazing album. It is well crafted, passionate, and although Coko sings solely for God (as showcased on her breathtaking 'Hymn Medley') it is an album any person can enjoy. I for one am grateful that this incredible woman, and her incredible voice have once again made their presence known. A bona-fide soul classic...

4.0 out of 5 stars I've Got JOy!, November 7, 2006
This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
"You asked the Reason why I sing I'm happy and I don't Worry no more, cause I've found joy And thats the reason Why"

This joy is expressed throughout the entire album. You can really hear it in the work and the vocals not only those of Coko's but even of those making guest appearances. Grateful is not one of those albums that try to bridge gaps. It Just does. Every listen of this album gives you the feeling that this one was personal for Ms. Coko and she is anxious to share the love she has for Jesus with us All.

Some of the standout work is That of Donald Lawrence on the tracks "Mighty God" and "HOly". "Mighty God" if there was a such thing as a Gospel Club, you would expect to hear this cut there. Very uptempo Great Arrangement can't help but to move or bob your head when you listen.
"HOly" starts off with a mellow dramatic piano and strings and the beautiful vocals of coko giving it the feel of the ultimate urban praise and worship song.

Its Hard to remake anything that Tremaine Hawkins did, especially when the song was wierd to begin with, but Coko does a great job in re-creating "Look At Me." The lyrics are timeless and the song is a perfect fit for this album and the perfect way to start off expressing the joy that coko is embracing.

With any Mention of any of the clark sista's you expect something hot. "Endow Me" Does not disappoint. Coko brings in a little help on this one with vocalists Faith (who really needs to stick to Gospel, it just sounds and feels right coming from her) Fantasia (yo philly sis really tried to steal the show on this song she was working it) and lil mo (She was incredible especially at the end of the song). These 4 sista's put together one of the best songs to come out in a long time and it has the Clark sister's feel to it (though i think they should have done a lil more with the background vocals). This song will definately move your song and if you are a vocalist you will rewind parts of this song and say to yourself "wow how did they do that?" Especially one of the falsetto runs that i believe Faith did near the end of the song.

The Reason is another hot song a nice groove that would be "for the jeeps" a very comfortable groove to drive to.

Over All this is a 4 out of 5 star album. Its only missing a star because I think Coko has only scratched the surface of where God is taking her in her music. Nevertheless a very polished product that you will not be disappointed with.

"and if you don't know, get to know this JESUS that I sing about, I promise you won't be disappointed!" Well ms Coko if they don't know him already, then listening to your album will definately make them want to know. Good Job and Welcome home.

Oh and if it helps this album has been sold out at some stores in philly already!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly inspiring and anointed!, June 1, 2007
This review is from: Grateful (Audio CD)
When I heard CoKo, Lil Mo, Fantasia, Faith and Kierra Sheard perform Endow Me on one of the music award shows, I was blessed then! This CD is awesome!!! Of the reviews I read, I was rather shocked at some of the comments by others. In case you didn't know, in her teenage years, CoKo sang with Hezekiah Walker's choir (before R&B) and she became a R&B artist from there, Faith Evans grew up in church, Fantasia also grew up in church as well as sang gospel with her family all her life and I'm not sure of Lil Mo's roots but clearly this is not a case of "secular" artists-turn-gospel as one reviewer wrote.

Also, one reviewer commented that they felt no anointing when listening to the song - well I think your understanding of the anointing is misunderstood. The anointing falls on you when you worship the Lord in spirit and in truth! The song or the way a person sings it is irrelevant -how are you worshipping when you listen? Are you listening to be critical or are you thinking about how good God is when you are listening? Because if you are - you WILL be blessed no matter the song or the person.
