Wonderfull! Best blend of intrigue with just enough action.,

Amen! My friend from Chicago. Stackpole defines how a war almost always begins, with politics and passion, and Stackpole puts them into his characters and places them in the situations aswell. But this book doesn't just have intrigue and emotion, it puts in fast and furious battling. And takes in well thought planning and strategic thinking into this book. When I purchased this book I read it from morning till late afternoon, stoping only for food and the ocasional call of the wild. Books that do that are the most spectacular novels in the world.

Stackpole comes through again!,

This review is from: Grave Covenant: Twilight of the Clans II (Battletech, No. 34) (v. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
Of all of his battletech books that I have read, they never cease to amaze me. As for this one, it is set apart from the others by it's events, STUFF HAPPENS! Decisions are being made... I love Stackpole's cast of characters. I can never adjust to other authors characters; I'm too used to all of his! On a final note, WHY DID YOU STOP PHELAN?!?!? You should've let him do it!

That reader from La Crosse Wisconsin doesn't know what he's talking about. Believe me, they don't come a lot better than Michael Stackpole. You complain about the political maneuvering? Well I hate to say it but that is part of what P-O-L-I-T-I-C-S is all about. If battles are not fought in chambers no one gets to fight battles, period. If you want the Twilight series to be nothing more than a nine-book slugfest then we might as well tell FASA right now to stop the series and just kill off all the Clans. (Which they seem to be hell-bent on doing, by the way) Once again Mr. Stackpole has shown us the depth of his knowledge and understanding of military tactics and politics. Mechs in his universe are merely the icing on the cake. Robert Thurston's style is plodding, monotonous and his plots somewhat superficial. It's a no-brainer, ladies and gentleman. Mr. Stackpole is and likely always will be, the best writer FASA could ever employ.

An excellent stage setter,
This review is from: Grave Covenant: Twilight of the Clans II (Battletech, No. 34) (v. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book does an excellent job for setting the stage of the vents that happen in the rest of the series. This should not be surprising to anyone who has read any of Stockpoles other books. Craeting the Universe of BattleTech is what he does. This book also does a great job of adding depth to the characters of the BT Universe. Its a must read!

Michael Stackpole has done an excellent job in continuing the Battletech universe. However, his last couple of books seem to be lacking the depth his earlier works display. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoyed this book (as well as Prince of Havoc). My only major criticism was that the story seemed too rushed. Also, I wish he would focus more on Katherine's betrayal. Still, Stackpole is still, in my opinion, the best Battletech author.

This review is from: Grave Covenant: Twilight of the Clans II (Battletech, No. 34) (v. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
From start to finish Michael Stackpole keeps you riveted to every page wondering what is going to happen next. The way he is able to protray every little tick in the political scene and make you really feel apart of the what you are reading makes want to never put the book down. His ability to pick-up seamlessly the endless threads of intrique and the fighting on the frontlines as Victor takes the fight back to his sister as well as the clans reflects credit upon himself and the ever lasting draw of the BattleTech Universe. 5 Stars for Grave Covenant and the whole Twilight series.

I liked this book for the way it moved the whole story of the Battletech universe along. That is about the only thing you can say about this book. The plot was much weaker than Stackpole's other battletech books. The story is also becoming a bit too stale (i.e. Victor Davion as the hero who can't fail or do wrong, etc.). Still, from the overall Battletech story, you must read this book.

A pleasin' way to start off the new Star League!,

This review is from: Grave Covenant: Twilight of the Clans II (Battletech, No. 34) (v. 2) (Mass Market Paperback)
All right, still a little bored from Exodus Road? Well, Mike Stackpole has done it again and made a fantastic book about the rebirth of the Star League and their campaign against the Smoke Jaguars. Stackpole ties up a lot of loose ends with Melissa Steiner's death and also sets up a new story line with the Nova Cats! All around a magnificent story!
