A terrific blend of fact and fiction,

Grave Creek Connections is completely captivating and I'm only on page 102. Mr. Morris' intimate knowledge of the area and it's people put me right in the hills among his characters.

Grave Creek Connections,

Since I spent my early years in that geographic region of the country, I can understand the local lore and people descriptions. The author is right on target with both. I liked the development of the characters and local activities. The plot was well laid out and there was enough mystery and suspense to keep me turning the pages. I am ready for the sequel!

I bought this book as I know the area he wrote about quite well. Within the first few pages the author's lack of writing skills became apparent as phrases were redundantly repeated throughout various pages. This author also has a head full of negative stereotypes which he pastes onto his rather superficial characters which he then weaves throughout this plot that keeps ending in one way streets. Without strong character development the one dimensional characters just don't go anywhere. There is a deputy who is not so bright because that is how people are in this area. Hello? This is your main character. With a dumb deputy as the main character one understands the complete lack of analysis about the random events from any character or the author.
I was so disappointed as I really wanted to like this book. I even stuck with it to the end - which was a disaster. The ending was as vague and lackluster as the rest of the book. This book is like a greasy meal at a dirty diner where the food is mediocre and there is no dessert.
