Book Description

July 16, 2007
This first of a series book about Claire Foster and her beautiful ancestor, the Baroness Elysia von Eschenbach, was written to intrigue and delight you. Two tales in one. Modern and gothic stories artfully interwoven into one engaging book based on the author's life. The author's discovery that she suffered from a "grave disorder" and her investigation into the ancestral genealogy of her family led her to search further. She was horrified when reading in a medical journal that this disorder, known as porphyria, was thought to be the disease of the vampires. Her research through the empirical knowledge of the ages led her through revelations beyond surprise and to enlightenment at journey's end.

5.0 out of 5 stars Porphyria/ Vampire legends, March 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Grave Disorder (Hardcover)
This is an amazing book that my daughter and I found while doing a research project for her biology class. Porphyria is a rare genetic disorder that may be the basis for the vampire legends. This book tells the stories of a modern woman who suffers from the disease and an 18th century woman who was buried alive and left her crypt. Excellent story, based on truth, that includes two heroines that I really cared about. The book flap says that this is the first of a series; I hope Book 2 is coming soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great read and very informative on Porphyria, January 11, 2008
This review is from: Grave Disorder (Hardcover)
I am so pleased I found this book. I had no idea that Porphyria even existed and to think it gave legend to the Vampire. I loved the two stories and particularly when Elysia comes back after being buried alive and really gives it to her "husband". That was great! Well done!
