I know Patty Duke was in lots of films between The Patty Duke Show and this movie, most notably as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, but I couldn't resist going back in time. I first saw GRAVE SECRETS about 10 years ago and recently bought the

this movie to be one of the best movies based on a factual ghost story
I've ever seen, Yes it is a TV Movie, So if you are expecting Special

This is one of the most realistic movies based on ghosts and is mostly
like how it really is. The story is based on actual events "the legacy
of hilltop drive" and stars the amazing actress "Patty Duke" who is
well known for all her excellent "based on real events" TV Movies.

This movie has an excellent story, and what makes it even more gripping
and interesting is that its based on real events that happened to the
whole neighbourhood at hilltop drive. Every house hold had a ghost and
eventually the whole neighbourhood was empty as everyone eventually
moved away as they could no longer take living with the ghosts. It is
fact that the real Hill top drive is now a abandoned neighbourhood and
no one lives there.

I highly recommend this movie to serious Patty Duke fans, and people
who like a good ghost movie that doesn't have all the scary factor
thrills that come from Hollywood movies. Although the movie IS SCARY,
it just doesn't need special effects to make it scary!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good true story, made-for-TV ghost movie!, March 24, 2009

This review is from: Grave Secrets (DVD)
The best part of Grave Secrets aside from the fact that it was based on a true story is Patty Duke who always gives us wonderful performances. This is also called The Legacy of Hilltop Drive. You can probably find more information on the internet about what happened to Ben and Jean Williams and the rest of their family. The home they moved into was built on an old cemetary called The Black Hope and supposedly the deceased began to haunt the residents in the neighborhood in strange ways. Toilets would flush on their own, the garage door opened and closed by itself, it was chilly a lot of the time, there were unexplained shadows on the wall, etc. The Williams tried to take legal action againgst the developers but with no luck. They eventually moved out after a family tragedy. If you enjoy the occasional TV-movie, this is a good one. Don't expect fancy special effects or high production values like you would in big Hollywood films. But this is still a good movie to watch on a Sunday afternoon. Some other ghost movies you may enjoy with better budgets are Burnt Offerings, The Changeling or The Others with Nicole Kidman.

Its great, The premise is so creepy, scary it is entertaining from start to finish!
It does not have to resort to low budget gore, so if your looking for that it has none. This movie makes you think . Still the movie will scare you.

I know Patty Duke was in lots of films between The Patty Duke Show and this movie, most notably as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker, but I couldn't resist going back in time. Grave Secrets is based on a true event where the spirits of those buried come to haunt the houses on Hilltop Drive whose owners don't realize there is a cemetery under their houses. Patty plays a wife and mother who takes charge of her granddaughter while her daughter is away. right after moving in, Patty hears the sound of a toilet flushing, only there is no one there to flush it. Later, her granddaughter sees shadows on the wall no one else sees. As in any haunted-house movie, things build up until the climax and the secret of Hilltop Drive is revealed. While other movies were better, such as The Haunting and The Legend of Hell House, it is neverthless unnerving in part because this one is real, and in part because of the acting and special effects. I have it on a video along with Ghost Story, Poltergeist, The Haunted (not The Haunting, but based on fact) and The Uninvited (also based on fact). You can see I like haunted-house movies, and Grave Secrets is a satisfying end to the tape. Not top quality, but still good.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great movie..., July 17, 2011

This was a really good movie when it first came out. Unfortunately due to the changes in technology it wasn't as scary when watching it now. It also took some time to get used to the audio-video difference. I wish they could update the movie so it was a more current version, but all in all it is still a great movie. It's based on a true story. My daughter loved it.

4.0 out of 5 stars There's dead people in your backyard!!!, October 19, 2005
This review is from: Grave Secrets (DVD)
I am up watching the 2am late night movie on FOX and took me a while to find the name of this movie because TV Guide did not list it but once I did find the title name I liked the name and am still watching it. So far this family moves into a big house blowing all their lifes savings only to to move in and start having strange things happen around the house at night like flushing toilets, TV turning on by itself, shadows of a man walking through thier house, a old balck man apearing telling to not dig up thier yard because this couple is burried there then is gone when you look away and look back, just plain strange evil stuff. The insurance company won't help, and all the nieghbors are suffering from the same goings-on so what do you think happens? Yup, the Mom gets mad and goes nuts and starts diggin them dead folks up! As for any idea how the movie ends I don't know cause it's still on. My hope is it ends good. Check it out cause from what I have seen it's a great movie to watch on a day you have nothing to do but to relax for once and enjoy something good. PS prepare your self for the dead kittens scene, this is when they were allowed to show the real thing. (yeah maggots and all, kinda surprised they'd show that on tv, but it is late-late night. Enjoy

2.0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment, June 14, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Grave Secrets (DVD)
I bought this film mainly because David Soul was in it and I liked his
work in Salem's Lot. As it turns out his role was small and Patty Duke's
performance left a lot to be desired. The story line struggled to be
just OK. The special effects were laughable, which helped make this worthless film a little entertaining. I am a B horror film nut and find some B horror
movies that aren't scary are at least funny. This film is neither. It has no
re-view value at all and I would avoid this title.

Okay, this movie stinks. Horribly produced. Bad acting and the list goes on and on. Horrible lighting and fake sets. Now I know where they put washed up stars at. This movie doesn't even go by the book. Read the book if you really want to know what this family went through...the movie isn't even worth the discount bins.
