Ignorance, fear and loathing. This book has it all!,

If ignorance really is bliss, then Timothy Kauffman is one happy guy. What this author understands of transubstantiation (and the orginal texts which CLEARLY teach the Catholic doctrine), the Old Testament references to "graven images", the Blessed Virgin Mary, and, well, just about everything else which represents orthodox Christianity, you could fit into a thimble and have enough room left over for the Chinese Army. It is books, and authors, like this one that make me wonder if some Protestant zealots get it all wrong on purpose. How can you be this "off the mark" and retain a sliver of credibility?Mr. Kauffman does what so many others of his ilk do; they read what OTHER Protestants have to say about Catholic doctrine and parrot their opinions. I have a novel idea for Timothy Kauffman and those in his cheering section... read what St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Francis de Salles, Pope John Paul II, Scott Hahn, Robert Sungenis, Patrick Madrid, and THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, teach on these subjects! Independant thought seems to have gone out of style and repeating nonsense which has been disproved long ago is making a big comeback. The real victims of this tragic book? Intellectual honesty and God's truth. That is a profound shame. Please read ROME SWEET HOME, SURPRISED BY TRUTH, BORN FUNDAMENTALIST;BORN AGAIN CATHOLIC, NOT BY FAITH ALONE, EVANGELICAL IS NOT ENOUGH, and THE CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. These titles are available right here ... Don't be frightened of the truth. It will set you free.

who cares?,

For me, beliefs in Transubstantiation, (a remarkable feat of theological acrobatics), and apparitions are no more bizarre than beliefs in a corpse walking out of a tomb or in bread and fish being manufactured out of thin air. To berate one set of odd beliefs in favor of another set of odd beliefs is, in itself, well, odd... If you were hoping for a skeptical, but refreshing, take on traditional Roman Catholic beliefs presented in an honest, academic manner, look elsewhere. It is sad, and frightening, that this kind of Anti-Catholic invective still exists at the dawn of the 21st century. If folks want to worship bread, Mary, risen corpses or Mickey Mouse...who cares?
