The American Irvine Welsh,

Matt has done it again, and I must say I'm rather pleased with the results. Brilliant work by a fellow who could well be the most promising young man in the art today. Mind you, this isn't just because the coolest character was named after me. Once again, a fantastic read, Matt.

Great book along the lines of Elmore Leonard (Maximum Bob comes to mind) and Tom Robbins (Another Road Side Attration). Well written and enjoyable to read. The first half of the book is set up around two brothers and develops the main characters and makes them really come alive. Then the story transitions into following several different groups of people, in addition to the main characters, whose paths are converging. The characters created are all a kick. The story accelerates mid way through the book and takes off towards a great ending. The main plot is these two brothers steal a body from a funeral and flee w/ several different people in pursuit. The author does a great job of laying out a story w/ pieces missing and filling them in further down the road. It kept me thinking about the story and curious. Great Book.

More Shameless Self-Promotion (typical),
By Matthew Liddell (Inside of a mind surrounded by a dotted line) - See all my reviews

Hello, my name is Matthew Liddell and I am the author of 'Graverunners'. This book was written as I was putting the finishing touches on my first novel, 'A Few Scattered Souls'. My first book was all about art and cruelty and epiphany and so on. I knew with my next book I wanted to do something for the folks back home.Graverunners is set in my hometown of Ardmore, Oklahoma. The book has pretty much everything that may have been lacking in my first one. This time around we stick with the same group of characters and the plot unfolds in a mostly linear fashion. The narrative still has plenty of society outcasts and oddballs but this time around there's a lot more action to get us from one place to another. (two chapters in the book are nothing but car chases!) AND AND AND AND If you click on the Used & New button up there you can order it directly from me and I will autograph it for you.
