About the Artist

Since the release of their first album Haunted in 1995 death metal icon and forefather Chris Barnes and company have created some of the most stand out songs among the death metal community today. Originally started as a side project by then Cannibal Corpse lead throat Chris Barnes along with Obituary guitarist Allen West, Death's Terry Butler and drummer Greg Gall quickly turned it into a full time band after Chris' departure from Cannibal Corpse that same year. Since then the band has been regarded as one of the world's most respected groups in extreme music. In 1998, guitarist Steve Swanson of the seminal death metal act Massacre joined the fold replacing West. His contribution would mark a significant turning point. And with the release of 1999's Maximum Violence, the world beyond metal took notice. Tours with Danzig and a stint on the 2000 Vans Warped Tour (an honor usually reserved for the Punk Rock elite) followed, making Maximum Violence their most successful release to date.

Product Description

Cover of AC/DC's Classic "Back In Black" album with Chris Barnes signature vocals.

4.0 out of 5 stars HAVE A DRINK ON ME, September 17, 2005
This review is from: Graveyard Classics 2 (Audio CD)
For one think, most might think that I am crazy for giving this album 4 stars. I can explain. This is an absolute gift for metal fans. First off, lets remember that we are reviewing a COVER album. So its not fair to be so cruel on the band for putting out this release. Most of us SFU fans know that AC/DC had a huge influence on Chris Barnes and company, and putting a full cover album of Back in Black in genius. I love almost every single song on this album, as I enjoy the effort SFU put every song, and trying to play it as crushing and heavy as possible. OK OK, everyone complains that the guitar work is lame, and Barnes vocals suck...Hey, did you expect a death metal band to sing. Barnes growls and grunts are the reason most of us are fans. Second, for the guitar work. Steve Swawson isnt exactly Angus Young, so I didnt expect the hear blaring AC/DC solos in this effort. What we have hear is a nice solid, heavy in your face version of Back in Black which could only be pulled off by SFU. Enjoy it for what is is worth.! And just another note, how many of you would agree that Garage Days Re-REvisted, the 5.98 EP was one of Metallicas best? And no I dont mean the garage days they released a few years ago, but the orginal in 1987. Have fun with this one.>...

2.0 out of 5 stars Everything on this is decent, EXCEPT the vocals, October 21, 2004
This review is from: Graveyard Classics 2 (Audio CD)
The beginnings of these songs aren't that bad, but when the vocals come in, it's ruined. Chris sounds like he's out of breath and trying to force the words out(lay off the pot). One thing that I think Six Feet Under should do is get a second guitarist. If you want to get a good metal tribute/cover album, get Iced Earth's Tribute to the Gods.

This album is gotta be one of the worst metal albums of all time. Pure crap!!! I loved Graveyard Classics, but this just horrifying to listen to. This is the best that they could do? It is very laughable. Just not good. Why on earth would you cover a whole album!?! Why not cover an array of artists instead of one? No original thought put into this piece of filth. Thank the metal gods they redeemed themselves with "13".
