Lick The Blade
Graveyard Of Empires
2009 Auburn Records, 12 tracks (57:37)
With the debut of LICK THE BLADE from Ohio Auburn Records deliver us the next coup of US metallic Metal art. Whereby you have to say here right at the beginning of the review that there is a very European influence on this young talented band: IRON MAIDEN! After the terrific intro Prelude To War follows with Thanatos an acoustic little short of an awestruck bow to the iron maidens. The rhythm and the composition of the tracks remind me partly yet very much of "Aces High", but don't worry LICK THE BLADE are far apart from simply copying. Thereto tracks like "Royal Blood", "Graveyard Of Empires", "Red Warning" or the fast "Stalker" bang too independent off the speakers. Besides they have with front siren Ted Anderson a capable man on the mic who does not only convince vocally. But he is also by the by one of the most pleasant contemporaries who crossed my path so far between Wiesmoor and Cleveland and he really lives Metal. LICK THE BLADE leave with "Graveyard Of Empires" ever distinct traces which could also be confirmed at the Headbangers Open Air in Germany this year with an impressive live gig.

Review
