A suspenseful aviation ride.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Graveyard Spiral (Paperback)
I thought I would read this book on an extended vacation but soon found that I couldn't put it down. The writer's first book introduced us to Naval Aviation and this book creates a dramatic, suspenseful novel. We are immediately drawn into a not so typical interaction between 2 schoolmates, one an intriguing villain who keeps turning up in the life of our hot Naval Aviator. Upchurch has managed to intrigue us while all the time giving us insight into the technical aspects of flying. The mysterious friend draws us into a murder mystery, with a unique romantic tie in which leads to the suspenseful conclusion. This would be a great TV series along the lines of JAG.

Upchurch has now shifted genre slightly from his first book about NavCad training. Graveyard Spiral is an aviation thriller following the lives of two main characters from the Viet Nam War in the sixties to a dramatic ending in the eighties. As the tale moves to its climax you are sucked into a story that would make a great screenplay. The author masterfully weaves characters and events throughout the book.I highly recommend this first-rate adventure story.

This review is from: Graveyard Spiral (Paperback)
Once you start this novel, you will not be able to put it down! Very intriguing plot mixing murder, mystery, aviation, military action, and sex. In addition, there is a keen insight into the Vietnam war, and the limitations placed on our military units by the civilian DOD decision makers. Those readers with aviation and military experience will relate to many of the experiences of the characters in this book. There is also the intrigue of several murders that creates a sinister background throughout the book. A very unique tale of boyhood friendship and betrayal, murder mystery, military action, and aviation thrills. The author has drawn upon his extensive experience in aviation and the military to create a very outstanding book. The thrilling conclusion is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Highly recommended!!!! |
