5.0 out of 5 stars The greatest Tuba/Jazz album ever!, October 24, 2003
This review is from: Gravity (Audio CD)
Words alone cannot describe how great this album is! Every song moves you and takes you to a place you never would have expected. The tuba is thought to be a silly, laughable instrument. Such is not the case especially in the hands of a master like Howard Johson. I hope to see him play live someday and to get the chance to meet him to thank him for this gift. Buy this album, you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars INCREDIBLE!!!!!!, April 5, 2008

I am fortunate in the fact that I live in NYC and get to see Howard Johnson play here occasionally. He is TREMENDOUS in person. But trust me, this CD is UTTERLY AMAZING!!!!! This is GREAT JAZZ!!! Every cut. I never thought I'd love ANY other version of Oliver Nelson's classic "Stolen Moments", but here it is!. Cut after cut, it just never lets you down. Serious world class musicians doing world class arrangements (all by Howard Johnson!) You've heard Howard Johnson before if you listen to Taj Mahal, and if you were a fan of "THE BAND", Dylans backup group for quite awhile and famous in their own right for many years. You will see him in the famous Martin Scorcese Documentary called "The Last Walts" in 1976 when "The Band" split up. This is one of the CD's that are great in two ways. ONE, It is world class jazz performed by world class musicians and masterful arrangements by Howard Johnson. TWO, it is TOTALLY enjoyable to listen to from start to finish. What more can you ask for? Verdict? You CANNOT live withoug this one!!! I can't. PS! Wait until you hear the extremely low tones on tuba on the fourth cut, "KELLY BLUE", and when you hear cut number 5 (Be No Evil) you will just jump for JOY!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Classic, December 22, 1999
This review is from: Gravity (Audio CD)
This album is long overdue so the fact that it arrives and is as great as I anticipated it would be, makes me wonder WHY did it take sooo long?

Beginning to end. I love every song!
