5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastically lush fusion of rock, R & B, and jazz, November 29, 1999

Greazy Meal will always have a special place in my heart. They were one of the best bands I'd ever heard. They didn't turn out albums full of record exec. approved, formulaic garbage; the Meal created music that really held its own vitality. In addition to that, I always felt well treated by the members of the band. I ran into them on the street or in restaurants(and still do) and they were always pleasant people to talk to. It ain't easy bein' Greazy, but someone's gotta do it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gravy to Greaze, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Gravy (Audio CD)
I truly apreciate Greazy Meal as a musical entity, as well as a sentimental favorite. Being from the Twin Cities, I've seen them play live literally fifty or sixty times (I've lost count).
Gravy is their third album, but not their last (see Universe's Baby). Another important point is the line-up for Gravy. Percussionist/vocalist Ken Chastain was not on this album. I heard Ken contribute his talents to the Gravy material live@ The Cabooze in MPLS (The Meal's Homebase). He is a valuable asset.
If you like old school funk- flavor with touches of Prince/The Beatles/many jazz influences . . . then purchase GRAVY.

5.0 out of 5 stars A contagious blend of heart felt funk and soul., July 10, 1999
This review is from: Gravy (Audio CD)
The music on this cd captures you and puts you where the songs are going. Not the staged pre-formatted music we hear so often today. It's a shame these guys couldn't work out whatever differences that they had and continue to make the music that the industry lacks! Get back together guys!

4.0 out of 5 stars Funky-Cool-Mellow, April 3, 1999

Greazy has a very funky sound thick with rich instrumentation. A little jive, soul, r&b and funk combined into one sweet sound. A great band. Unfortunately still rather unknown.

as a veteran of old school soul music, this group takes me back to when we bobbed our heads, swayed side to side and finger popped. They're definitely "on time".
