Product Description

Size: Quart (946 ml)Color: GrayProfessional Quality '1012' Glazing Compound for Face Glazing Metal SashDoes Not Have to be PaintedCRL Dap 1012 Metal Sash Putty is formulated for face glazing interior or exterior aluminum, primed steel, stainless steel and galvanized steel sash. It applies and sets quickly and smoothly without priming, and is colored to match metal finishes. Glazing may be painted with oil or latex-based paint after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. Surfaces should be clean, dry and free of frost. When re-glazing, remove all old putty and bedding by using the following tools: 4500, PR9000, AK40. If any separation has occurred in glazing, mix entire contents of container until uniform. If the compound is too stiff, the addition of a minimum amount of VM and P Naphtha Spirits (not to exceed 1-1/2 fluid ounce (44 milliliters) for each one gallon (3.785 liters) of compound) will reduce the consistency. Do not add any type of oil or pigment to the compound. Preferably store compound in a warm place prior to use. Press glazing onto sash filling height and width of L-shaped recess completely. Smooth glazing to an angle that sheets water with a putty knife; 2BE118, 4701, 2S114. Typical dry time before painting is two to three weeks depending on temperature and humidity. Putty may be painted after it has skinned over and attained a firm set. For best results, use a high quality oil-based paint. Meets Federal Specification TT-G-410E, ASTM C-669 and CID A-A-373A.Important NotesDo not apply when air or sash temperatures are below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C). Do not use for channel glazing, inside face glazing of plastic windowpanes, plastic windowpanes over 24 inches (610 millimeters) in any dimension, any windowpane over 48 inches (1,219 millimeters) in any dimension, or insulated glass units with an organic seal. Dap '1012' Glazing is not recommended for glazing porcelainized steel insulating panels, for any composite or composition panels or for

Disappointed. What I received was CR Laurence Metal Sash Putty masquerading as DAP "1012". I have used DAP "1012" many times over the past 20 years and am very familiar with it. It is a superior product. Comparison wise, the CR Laurence putty is of a dryer consistency, tears and separates much more readly when being worked, and has a much greater tendency for skinover separation during curing. If you are advertizing DAP '1012' for sale then sell DAP '1012'; no substitutions!

This is not "DAP" as the photo suggests. I use this for stained glass and the CRL product is dryer and separates easily just as another reviewer has stated. Amazon should change the photo, it's misleading

Had to replace a small window pane on a very old metal sash window. Difficult to find. It has been replaced by acrylics and silicones. Managed to locate through Amazon. Priced right, delivered in timely fashion. Easy to use. Will know more when putty takes a final set in the window. Don't anticipate any problems.
