5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice child's animal book
Smithsonian wildlife/animal books are generally very good, and this is no exception. It's a small book, but the illustrations of the gray squirrel are very lifelike and charming. 2.0 out of 5 stars Sadly Small Squirrel
Though the stories in this series are really very nice, I feel the too small format is detrimental to their enjoyment. I do not think the description of this book adequately conveys how small it is. Smithsonian wildlife/animal books are generally very good, and this is no exception. It's a small book, but the illustrations of the gray squirrel are very lifelike and charming. This is a brief narrative of exciting events in the day of a gray squirrel: stealing acorns from a chipmunk; looking for food; brief danger, and excape, from a cat and dog (but with a happy ending, of course). A good reader for young children.

Though the stories in this series are really very nice, I feel the too small format is detrimental to their enjoyment. I do not think the description of this book adequately conveys how small it is. The pictures are lovely, but again too small to really enjoy. I also found it difficult to hold and show pictures while reading aloud. Overall I was disappointed. Again, it is a lovely and educational story, the book would get more stars from me if it was in a larger format. If you or your child love little things this book might be just right.
