Having been a victim of bullying at work, I found this episode to be especially interesting even if over the top. Kate Burton is absolutely great in it. Well worth seeing.

I've always been a huge SVU fan, but this episode goes way beyond the usual high standards of the show.

Can you believe that Oscar-winner (and Tony-winner and Emmy-winner) Jeremy Irons of Brideshead Revisited, The Borgias and Reversal of Fortune fame (for the latter of which he won his Oscar) is the guest star?!

Irons plays a conflicted man with a past (Irons is great at complexity, so this is perfect for him). In the present, Irons' character is a psychiatrist treating sex addicts, conducting group counseling sessions that Elliot Stabler infiltrates to investigate possible perpetrators of this episode's main crime. Irons' characterization lifts this episode into the stratosphere.

And don't miss "Totem", a later episode in the same season, when Irons returns as the same character to help the SVU squad in an even more memorable episode. Brilliant, both of them. The two together should be repackaged as a new, full-length TV movie of spectacular quality. Wow.

Great show and Amazon made it easy to download and watch. I think Amazon has made watching movies online more user friendly over the last year.

I am a fan of Debra Messing's from all the way back to Ned & Stacey, so I was excited to see that she would be appearing in a episode of SVU. Messing is Alicia Harding, a TV personality that outs child molesters on national television. She becomes a victim of stalking herself and this somehow all ties in with her sister disappearing 25 years ago. Throw in Christine Lahti as ADA Sonya Paxton and there is the episode. The story was a bit muddled and seemed thrown together. Lahti was good, as always, but they cannot seem to decide what to do with her character. Is she staying or going? Is she in rehab or out? Well, this episode finally answers the question definitively.

The regular cast delivers their usual fine performances, but Messing lacks a bit as a dramatic actress. I believe the story had potential, but needed a bit more time to unfold. They tried to tell it to quickly and left the viewer with a "Wait a sec...who was that?" feeling.

Best season premiere SVU has had in a long time, and this is coming from someone who loves SVU. Strong performances by the cast and guest stars. Joan Cusack's performance in particular stands out as a paranoid, grieving mother. I don't want to give anything away, but I highly recommend Locum.

As good as it gets. Law & Order is the only good
program on TV. What has happened to creative
writing - it's not showing up. When this series
ends, we will definitely be at a loss for good
writing.
