More About the Author

Linda Mickey was so mad at her boss, she killed him. On paper. That first late night at the keyboard took her from mystery reader to mystery writer.

Like her protagonist Kyle Shannon, Linda Mickey was employed by a staffing agency. After a career in which she saw everything from knife-toting secretaries to drunken vice presidents, Mickey had plenty of motive to write a mystery series featuring a temporary office worker.

In her non-fiction work, she helps writers understand the business side of their creative endeavor.

She is currently employed as the office manager of a small accounting firm, dividing her time between tax returns and murder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Greased Wheels Just Keeps on Turning, October 29, 2002
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Greased Wheels (Paperback)
An auspicious beginning for a new author. I'm usually a fan of more slam-bang stuff (Lee Child, John Sandford, Robert Crais) but I read Greased Wheels in one sitting. The characters are real, the pace is energetic and the plot is just darned interesting. Who woulda thought a temp worker could be a fascinating protagonist? Kyle Shannon is as intrepid as Miss Marple and as likeable as Jessica Fletcher. As a sometime fire buff, I was impressed by Linda Mickey's firefighting knowledge. And those cinnamon rolls! I couldn't get the smell out of my nose for days. . .

Greased wheels is a wonderful book. It kept my interest from beginning to end. The main character, Kyle Shannon is a very competent woman working as an office temp. I liked following her thoughts and her confidence and wondered what she would be like to know.
Linda writes well, and I hope to read another book by her soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Wait for the Next One!, July 3, 2003

This review is from: Greased Wheels (Paperback)
This was an excellent mystery with well developed characters, especially the protagonist, Kyle Shannon. I can't wait to read about Kyle's next adventure! Linda Mickey did a great job drawing the reader into the scenes. As a person who is in the staffing industry, the author painted a very real picture of the life of a temporary and the interesting things they face on a daily basis. Great read, looking forward to the next one!
