This book has been a great resource for our family and our homeschool group. There are 175 games divided into indoor and outdoor games. Each listing begins with how many people you need and what objects you need to play. (Things that we almost always have like balls, pencils, paper, cards, etcetera) The game descriptions are clear and concise and many games also include variations on the original game. We have had a great time learning new games and being reminded of games that I had long forgotten. This is a must-have resource for parents and teachers.

Some of our favorite subcategories include Outdoor and Active Games, Indoor and Quiet Games, Road Trip and Car Games, Sidewalk Games, Words and Numbers Games, Card Games, and Educational Games.

I have used this book several times and have loved all the games in it! There are a few familiar games with great new twists on how to play and how to make things a little more fun or challenging, along with new and exciting games. There are games for all ages and group sizes to play indoors or outdoors. I use this book when planning birthday parties, family reunions, church activities and even playing a game just as a family at home. I know that I will use this book time and time again and use it for years and years to come! It also makes a great gift for friends and family members!

This is exactly what our family needed. I forgot how to play many of the games I played with my family and friends growing up. This book has them all and several I've never even heard of. Great Games has become a staple in our home, and the kids look forward to family night because we get to pull out "the book"!

I am a Dietitian and one thing my clients never fail to ask me for is alternatives to sitting their child in front of the TV. Especially on those cold winter or rainy days indoors. This book is an answer to that question. The games are fun, engaging, and sure to promote happy, healthy family memories. It truly is a must have!

This is exactly the kind of book we need at a time like this. Everyone is looking for ways to keep the family healthy and active while having fun for a lot less money. This book is stuffed with great ideas that are so, so, so EASY to do. It can make you the center of entertainment and creativity for family reunions, weekly game nights, church and school functions. Your choice:$300 for an Xbox that makes fat kids who lock themselves in the bedroom and never talk to you, or $19.95 for healthy kids who enjoy time with each other. I've made my choice!

This book is a gem. The book has so many games and activities for everyone. I have 2 boys and I am always looking for new and interesting things for my family to do...other than watching TV or play a video game. It is also a good reference for adult groups, church groups, teenagers, etc. Check it out. It is more than worth the money you pay to get it.

We received this book as a gift, and we simply couldn't be happier with what we've found inside! Our family has always loved playing games, so we were a bit skeptical that this would open new doors for us, but we've found tons of new twists and new games between the covers of this great book. Every family should own a copy - or two!

So I am not creative when it comes to playing with my kids, and I admit I rely on games and toys that I buy. The problem with that though is it is expensive to keep buying games and toys, especially when kids get sick of them so quickly. Well the book "Great Games: 175 Games & Activities for Families, Groups, & Children" by Matthew Toone is a great start.

As the title states, it contains 175 games to play and the best part is that they can be changed up, played inside or outside, played with varying amounts of people, and offers creative changes. The games are all easy to understand, especially because the author uses characters in examples for the instructions. Each game explains how many people are needed, what supplies (if any) are needed, the rules, and variations. You may also recognize a few of the games, but I promise this book offers more than classic games we all already know.

I am so impressed with how organized this book is and how broken down it gets. The index of the book is just so detailed that it makes finding the right game to play so easy. The book is also broken down into Family & Group Games and Children's Games, but every game can be modified depending on the number of players.

The book is a result of years of collecting, creating, and compiling games all while playing these games with his family. I liked that part, because it makes the games more personal and real. You also know that the games are going to be fun because they were played and created through family get togethers.

Now my boys are still little so they don't follow directions or really understand games yet, but I have already tried out a few of them. I really though can't wait to my boys are just a few years older and they really get into games and many of the games are geared towards probably ages 5 and up. We really enjoy the Quarter Team Toss and Strategic Bowling!

So whether you are looking for something for your family to do or if you are looking for new games for your get togethers, school, organization, or whatever, Great Games is definitely a book to check out. I can't see getting bored with it anytime soon and it really is easy to understand.

I have two little boys who always want to "play games" and they always want to play "a new game". This book has provided our family with tons of new games that my boys love. It's amazing how putting a twist on a familiar game makes it seem new and fun again.
