This review is from: Great Adventures in Food : A Fresh Market Cookbook (Paperback)
I found this book to be one for all seasons. whatever the date...you find the food in the market and you can always find a wonderful recipe to go with it. in the spring and summer you find wonderful salads and soups that are refreshing, also lots of good seafood and other fish recipes. in the winter there are lots of good recipes to keep you feeling warm and cozy. also I found this is good for all age groups sp you can give it toa new bride as a gift orfor a young family or an experienced cook and there is something to appeal to each catagory. there are helpful tips everyone can use. and for an extra treat there are wonderful recipes from famous chefs which are simple enough for anyone to duplicate. I believe this book belongs in every kitchen to be used at will. signed...ethel weinberger

This review is from: Great Adventures in Food: Fresh Ways to Celebrate Every Meal (Hardcover)
It was the authors section on grains that caught my attention as a vegetarian. Americans do not eat enough grains or know the wide variety of grains available. Oatmeal and cornmeal and some rices are about all that most people consume, unless they are from another country. Her advise that was common knowledge to our Moms and Grandmothers about how to handle food and store it safely is something families in 2001-2002 need to be reminded of. I also like her suggestions on how to grocery shop and to do the food shopping last before heading home. And keeping an ice chest in the car with cold packs in which to place items that need to stay cold.
