5.0 out of 5 stars AN EXPERT ANALYSIS OF PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS, January 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Great American Convention: A Political History of Presidential Elections (Hardcover)
This book contains probably the most thorough analysis ever done of the relationship between party conventions and presidential elections. Unlike most books that simply describe what happened in the past, this book explains why history unfolded the way it did. Using Presidential elections from 1864-1972, this book examines the powerful influence that the major party conventions have exerted on both the naming of candidates and the final election outcome. For any student of Presidential politics or party electoral behavior this book should be near or at the top of their reading list.
