I buy many hot rod related books. I enjoy reading and admiring the different styles of cars that folks build.
This book covers many styles of hot rods. Some are from day's gone by that have become icons in the hot rod world while other's are just simple car's built for enjoyment. Combining the well known car's of history with those of modern day time is something i havn't seen much of and i feel adds to the book. Your seeing many car's for the first time. It's hard to beat a hard cover book of this size, that covers so many different car's. Buy the book, with so many great hot rods to see i doubt you'll be disapointed!

700 pages of color and history, 300+ cars=hours of pleasure,

Keith Harmon's GREAT AMERICAN HOT RODS: A FULL THROTTLE CHRONICLE OF CUSTOM CARS FROM THE STREET, SHOW, AND STRIP packs over seven hundred pages with color photos and history covering over three hundred cars from the streets and shows of the nation. Only pre-1949 cars are featured here; but that still makes for plenty of pages of detail and a narrowed focus which will appeal to hot rodders of both 'hardcore' and traditional rods. Chapters present both amateur and professional works, rebuilt and original rods, and histories which include color sidebars of at-a-glance information on make, year, body style, engine, and builder. Color shots of each rod accompany the histories.

Superb! Lots of Hot Rods, great pics, huge variety of REAL hot rods not just the boring show cars weve all seen before! Not too overly technical so appeals to all. Highly recommended if youre into these cars!

What could have been a truly "great" book turned out to be such a disappointment ! This book is a collection of average-mediocre hot rods with only a small sampling of "great" rods. There is only one picture of each car--no detail photographs (the description of the car might say what kind of engine the car has but if the car has a hood who knows what the engine looks like). Additionally the descriptions are rather brief and boring.Actually that best describes this book----BORING !
