This review is from: Great American Railroads [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you are in your sixties or older you may remember the 16 mm sound industrial movies that were shown in school. They were sponsored by businesses as public relations propaganda tools, corny by today's standards and definitely not made in Hollywood. This boxed set is a collection of films commercially sponsored by now extinct railroads on seven VHS tapes, several films per tape. Most are from the transition era from steam to diesel locomotion when railroads ran long distance passenger trains and piggy back was a new way to compete with trucks for long haul freight business. The promotional material never mentions the ancient origin of these films and true railfans should enjoy seeing railroading from the eyes of a bygone era.
