Book Description

August 1, 2002 0807407585 978-0807407585
The Latest addition to the highly acclaimed URJ Ethics Curriculum, The Great Balancing Act takes age-old ideas and places them within a thoroughly modern context for high school students. To be a Jewish adolescent is to encounter an array of choices. You are growing up. You are becoming an adult. You are becoming increasingly independent. You are beginning to develop your own conception of Judaism and what it means to live the life of a true mensch. The Great Balancing Act uses texts from the Torah and Talmud to present issues that relate to adolescents, like those having to do with parents, school, and friendship. It is brimming with ideas, activities, questionnaires, and resources, all of it designed to help teenagers explore where they stand in terms of living ethically. Includes Teacher’s Guide.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, February 24, 2006

This review is from: Great Balancing Account: A High School Ethics Curriculum (Paperback)
I was extremely excited when I saw this book, as I have been looking for ways to add to my curriculum. However, I was vastly disappointed for the amount of money that I paid for this and what I can use. It isn't very experiential, and is not the same quality I have come to expect from the URJ Press.
