About the Author

Michael L. Nicklas, raised in the Great Basin along the Wasach Range, studied forest ecology and wilderness management at the University of Idaho. A career employee of the National Park Service, Mike has served as a park naturalist at Rocky Mountain, Death Valley, and Grand Teton national parks, as well as four years at Great Basin.
