From the Inside Jacket, May 16, 2008
This review is from: The Great Book Of Modern Warplanes (Hardcover)
Oversized, though not too big to fit on a bookshelf, this unique volume collects in one place the most detailed, accurate, and highly illustrated descriptions ever produced of a number of the world's most important modern warplanes. Some of these descriptions have been officially adopted by the manufacturers as the basic briefing material for potential or actual customers and VIP visitors who need a detailed overview of the aircraft. The individual chapters of this book offer perhaps the best and most authoritative profile it is possible to obtain on the aircraft with the exception of classified documents. Each chapter was produced in close collaboration with the relevant authorities, and their value is enhanced by incisive comments, vivid action photographs, superb color illustrations, and helpful explanatory diagrams.

Excellent, even if a bit dated, March 15, 2009
This review is from: The Great Book Of Modern Warplanes (Hardcover)
Published in the late 1980s, this oversized, comprehensive, richly illustrated volume does not cover some of the more recent aircraft - American stealth planes, Russian Sukhois, the Eurofighter Typhoon, etc.
For those planes it does cover - most of which are still in active duty today - the depth of information is outstanding, not limited to the plane itself, but also about its development and deployment. However, the real treat is the graphic information: pictures, paintings and cutway detailed drawings. Probably the best reference for those machines.
