These musical performances are done with consummate artistry. The attack, the phrasing, the tempi, the interpretations are all presented with professionalism and first-rate musicianship. The organ and the setting, as well as choir and director, are associated worldwide with the very best in church music and this CD does not disappoint. Beloved church choral classics are all here and all performed at the highest level. A listening experience not to be missed!

This is a CD that I listen to over and over. It has also been extremely useful in the classes that I teach -- and the private lessons in my studio. I have a 5th grade boys quartet who are just getting an introduction to classical music and this CD was instrumental in putting a sparkle in their eyes! I realize that the sound of the choir is one that pre-dates the Cleobury directorship, but to hear that sound evolve with the different conductors is to know that the boychoir tradition is alive and well. Thanks for a wonderful listening experience. KS in Iowa

This is choral music at its absolute finest. The tones are so pure, piercing, clear, the sound so rich, etc. etc.... it is like drinking cold, pure water on a hot muggy day. This is definitely worth the price. One of my top 10 music cd's of all time.

There are several 'greats' about this recording: the choir itself has been described as 'The Choir of King's College, Cambridge is one of today's most accomplished and renowned representatives of the great British choral tradition. It was created by King Henry VI, who founded King's College, Cambridge in 1441, to provide daily singing in his Chapel, which remains the main task of the choir to this day; the 1998 recording was made under the direction of the conductor at that time, Sir David Willocks; the works of the composers selected for this recording are among the finest of the literature - Vivaldi, Bach, Palestrina, Tallis, Handel, Gibbons and Byrd..

The qualities of the performances are of the highest order. Bach's 'Jesu, Meine Freude' has rarely sounded so exactly right in intonation and in the Baroque sound. And it is a joy to hear the Coronation Anthems of Handel in this setting! The entire recording is one of the most beautiful collections of choral singing available. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, March 11

If you like choral music you will love this CD. I bought it after watching "Maurice" - the film made from the E. M. Forster novel. Part of the book/film is set in Cambridge and there is a scene where Maurice and his friend go to chapel. The choir is singing and I loved it. I watched the end titles to find out what the music was and this led me to this CD. There are no bad sections at all - it is a perfect CD. By the way, why is it that a treble's (boy soprano) voice is so much more beautiful than a soprano's voice?

I selected this CD because I had received a CD of the King's College Choir as a gift from a friend. The music of the choir is very soul soothing for me. I received the CD within 5 days of ordering and am very pleased with it.

Willcocks directed the Choir. Very fine. Young master Goodman is featured on this recording, in the Miserere. Flawless! Kings Choir has earned its reputation, year after year. Decade after decade. This disc includes my favorite version of Spem in Alium. There are many fine recordings but to my ear this one is sublime. This recording requires no words. Just listen once.

Pure Bliss.
