5.0 out of 5 stars Truth Unveiled Regarding the Reformation's Reach & Significance, March 7, 2011
This review is from: The Great Christian revolution: The myths of paganism and Arminism (Hardcover)
This book clarified, visited and revisited the events of the Reformation period with a focus on the lines of spiritual (True Christian vs. the Catholic superstition which had risen to that time) and governmental influences which coalesced from these two lines of progress. Rousas Rushdoony is brilliant (1 book read a day for 40 years), and that light would surely have been dimmed by error of science or governmental employ if not for God tapping and using him as a vehicle of His Truth regarding the Law Word's (Bible) practical application to a Truly Righteous Society. Scott, Mark Rushdoony, Selbrede and Lofton SHINE in this ESSENTIAL WORK to be read and studied by those who wish to see God's Great Movements in history.

4.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed the history... but the producer/publisher should be fired, October 17, 2011

This review is from: The Great Christian revolution: The myths of paganism and Arminism (Hardcover)
This book is really two separate books jammed together in one cover.

It is broken up into four sections. Three of which are theological essays, and the fourth, which is by far the longest, is a history of the reformation.

I enjoyed the historical section tremendously. It gave me a manageable survey of the Protestant Reformation written from a Protestant perspective. Very readable and very moving.

The theological essays on the difference between Calvinism and Arminianism were fine, but one of them really stretched on and on and I could have done without. I did not like them being part of this book. So if you want a history of the reformation, I highly recommend this, you can just skip the theological essays.
