Haney challenges communities to recognize the agonizing oppression they may not only encounter, but perpetuate as well. She begins with a picture of a congregation addressing oppression within itself. By enacting racial, sexual, and economic justice within the community, Haney contends that such a group can become more inclusive in worship and in its social context.
