5.0 out of 5 stars Very good recordings, July 21, 2011
This review is from: Great Composers Collection (Audio CD)
These were the first classical music purchases I ever made. I got this set as a teen when I was about 15 (16 years ago) and playing in several youth ensembles. I still listen to most of them regularly. Most of them are DDD. Not always well-known ensembles, at least not to me, but the recordings are great. I guess those that fancy themselves connoisseurs of classical music may have their criticisms on matters of interpretation, but there is not a single track among the set that has any intonation or ensemble issues. I think I'd put recording quality at the top of my list, so take that for what it's worth. Of course, over the years I have acquired other recordings of the works I have in this set, but I still like the ones in the set. I just decided to put this review up when I heard the Handel Concerto Grosso No. 6 on the radio. I was searching Amazon to see if the set was even for sale anywhere and then I saw that I could leave a review. I thought I could only leave reviews for stuff I bought on Amazon. Anyway, purchase this if you're thinking about it. Thanks.
