Most, if not all, selections on this album are new re-recordings of the soundtrack scores made by various orchestras, but are not original soundtrack recordings taked from the actual motion pictures described. Amazon simply is incorrect in showing this album as [SOUNDTRACK].

Williams is the icon of film scores today. You typically think of his workk as the mood behind every Spielberg or Harry Potter movie, but his career is more diverse and seasoned than that. He has been in the business for a long time, composing themes for Hitchcock, John Ford, and other Hollywood productions. Besides the obvious Star Wars, Empire theme, Superman, and Jurassic Park, other themes are just as memorable, such as Sabrina, Stanley & Iris, and The Cowboys. All of the songs stay with you and have a structure that is rich in detail and melody.

John Williams is one of the greatest composers of the 20-21 centuries. His music will live on for a long-long time. This disc provides the listener with a fantastic listening experience: Star Wars, Schindler's List, Superman (The Movie - my favorite on the disc), Jurassic Park are all here. There are some other lessor known gems on the disc: Sabrina, Stanley and Iris, Presumed Innocent and others. A very nice package! All of the scores are superb and well presented here. I enjoyed this cd very much and will revisit it again and again.

The people from Varese Sarabande and Robert Townson have assembled an outstanding variety of selections of this "Great Composer" - John Williams. The album features some of his lesser known works - "COWBOYS" (1973) - "FAMILY PLOT" (1976) - "MIDWAY" (1976) - "STANLEY & IRIS" (1990) - "PRESUMED INNOCENT" (1991).

Each selection bears the famous Williams signature, unmistakably brilliant. All in all, this CD has the depth and variety for an entertaining listen, anytime of the night or day. John Williams proves once again, he stands alone, there is no other quite like him - "John Williams a Great Composer!"

This is a very good CD however it lacks one of my favourite John Williams song, theRaiders March from the Indy movies.

This is a good collection of John Willaims music, containing Original Soundtrack recordings as well as re-recorded music from the Star Wars Trilogy by the Utah Symphony, and muisc by the Seattle Symphony and Royal Scottish National Orchestras from the Hollywood 94 and 96 compilations. The performance is first rate and unless you have all the tracks on CDs that these originated from, this is a good collection. Also informative liner notes by Robert Townson.

This cd gives every die hard John Williams fan a dream come true. Pick you favorite theme and there you have it. It has themes from many box office movies and even beter music. Williams is a genious and this cd give you the whole jist of it.
