Part of the outstanding Abbeville Press 'Great Country Houses' series, "The Great Country House Of Poland" combines the informed and informative text by Lord Michael Pratt with the stunningly beautiful photography of Gerhard Trumler to showcase some of Poland's magnificent estates located in picturesque valleys and alongside river systems. Included are representative examples of the manor houses and medieval castles that were built, occupied, and remodeled by the Polish aristocracy. Of special note and interest are the full color photography of architectural details. "The Great Country Houses Of Poland" concludes with a house-by-house survey describing and commenting on restorations (or the lack thereof) of the featured estates as they exist today. Also very highly recommended for both academic and community library Architectural Studies reference collections are the two other titles in this impressive series by Lord Michael Pratt and Gerhard Trumler: "The Great Country Houses Of Hungary" (9780789208934, $39.95) and "The Great Country Houses Of The Czech Republic And Slovakia" (9780789208934, $39.95).

Purchased as a gift for a co-worker, who is from Poland. It's not only beautifully made it's very informative and interesting. He was as pleased with it as I was when he saw it.
