As a member of the choir, I can't really make an unbiased review. However, I must say that this is one of few CDs that you'll find completely devoted to negro spirituals. Most gospel CDs will only have one or two spirituals in an album. Unlike gospel music, spirituals are sung a capella. If you are looking for gospel music, this is not the album.

I guess I was a bit disapppointed in this CD because I expected a bit more energy in the gospels. I have no complaint about the vocals, it's more the arrangements that didn't grab me. I expected the Oakland Gaspel Choir to deliver a more rounding performance, however it may suit others better.
