5.0 out of 5 stars Yes!
This is one of the bests books I have ever read. It is essentially a systematic theology usuing the same format as Calvin's Institute's, or Charles Hodge or Louis Berkhof, but it is so much more accessable to modern readers, especially lay-people. It is precise and Biblical, without wondering from the main line of thought. Very, very good.

3.0 out of 5 stars The first two volumes were well worth the third.
Any of God's people would profit from a reading of the first two volumes of this set. I found myself highlighting page after page and telling friends and family about every insight I encountered at every opportunity. 5.0 out of 5 stars The Doctor Delivers!, October 8, 2008

For those of us who own Kindles and love sound doctrine, this book is a must have! A warning: the table of contents is operative only for volume 1, you'll have to bookmark the location for the TOC for volumes 2 & 3 though the links will be inoperative. Hopefully the publisher will fix this. I bought the hardback edition of this book recently, and it is BIG. The convenience of having it on the Kindle and at this great a price is a real blessing for those of us who love biblical teachings. Now, if only Wayne Grudems's book would come down in price!

Any of God's people would profit from a reading of the first two volumes of this set. I found myself highlighting page after page and telling friends and family about every insight I encountered at every opportunity. What distinguishes this treatment of theology from others I have attempted to read is the fact that the author presents his material as a pastor to a congregation rather than as a textbook to a seminary class. Five stars for the first two volumes.

I am absolutely positive volume three is every bit as good as the first two, unless you are a dispensationalist. Not that he doesn't make some telling points. I was struck hard by the fact that the doctrine of the rapture of the church had not existed before 1830 and came into being not as the result of careful Bible study and exegesis but as the result of a 'revelation' at a prophecy conference. I was thinking there really might be something to his school of eschatology until he began a presentation of the book of Revelation. It's not that I think Dr. Lloyd-Jones is dead wrong; I was so confused by the spiritualizing of absolutely everything that I just gave up all hope of understanding any prophecy under his system.

Having said that, I am glad I bought the books; I will keep them and refer to them often and recommend them to others every chance I get.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great help..., October 31, 2008
This review is from: Great Doctrines of the Bible (Three Volumes in One): God the Father, God the Son; God the Holy Spirit; The Church and the Last Things (Hardcover)
This book is a must in every serious student of the Bible library. The great doctrines are made so very clear. May God raise up more preachers with the caliber of Martyn Lloyd Jones for our Lord Jesus Christ sake!

5.0 out of 5 stars no nonsense reading, January 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Doctor is always the best read for those who want no nonsense reading.
My Favorite (read 4 times so far)is the Dr's BIO by Iain Murray 2vol.
Sermon on the Mount is wonderful and then this one.
The Doctor gets right to the heart of the matter
for writing these volumes and does so in a plain sensible english read.

No high almighty/lost me there style - just the intro gives clarity and
common sense in how we should know the doctrines of scripture. And how
one should use these doctrines to SOLA DEO GLORIA and not ignore what is
getting to be so obvious in churches today.

All I can say is get it - read it and be glad. For there are few that could hold
a candle to the Doctor today. Worth every penny; book or Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. Lloyd-Jones's Doctrines of the Bible brings back the old Puritain life to the teaching of God to His people, December 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Just when you think that Doctrine is boring and reads too much like a dictionary, Dr. Lloyed-Jones makes the teachings of the Bible out to be personable and lively. It was preached to his own church and then rewritten for publication.
A reader may not agree with everything in the book, that is just the fact of growing and learning broadly. However, where there maybe disagreement, the Dr. will present what is the best balanced and informative insights. You will know better why there is a disagreement. On doctrines where there are better agreement (which maybe most of the volumes) the Dr. has done a wonderful job in presenting the subjects and enables the reader to learn more than the reader once thought on the subject.
This is a gem among other great works from Dr. Lloyed-Jones.

For those who have a kindle, you are really saving big on this one. It is an amazing price for this set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Steve, February 16, 2012

Great book for strengthening my understanding of the great doctrines of the Christian faith! My only negative comment is that on the Kindle version the "active" table of contents only includes the first of three books. It is a little awkward to get to a chapter in the last two books. Maybe the publisher could correct this oversight.
