This book features 15 one-day and half-day drives through the landscape of one of the most varied regions of England. The national parks of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales form the core of the book, but less visited areas such as the Eden Valley and the Forest of Bowland are also explored. All the routes have been chosen by British Formula One racing driver, Stirling Moss, and are described by Lakeland author, Colin Shelbourn. Alongside the descriptions of the main routes is information on things to see and do along the way, including picnic sites, view-points and places to stop and take a walk. Stirling's favourite pubs, restaurants and places to visit are all featured, as well as his personal tips and advice on motoring. Each route is designed to offer the reader a relaxed and interesting drive and is accompanied by an easy-to-follow map, highlighting the features mentioned in the text, and a gazetteer giving comprehensive information on the attractions to be found en route, including museums, famous houses, castles, gardens and visitor centres.
I'm a cartoonist and illustrator and have been drawing since I was 4 years old. Shortly after that I discovered you can turn squiggles into words.
At around the time I left university, a nice editor at D C Thomson decided to pay me to write exciting space comics. I've been writing and illustrating professionally ever since.
I'm the author (or co-author) of over a dozen books and have illustrated many more.
My latest book is DRAWING CARTOONS, a complete guide to ... drawing cartoons. It takes the reader from absolute basics right through to developing a career as a professional. The content is comprehensive but the approach is that anyone can draw and cartoons are the easiest way to learn how.
DRAWING CARTOONS also includes interviews with some of my absolute favourite cartoonists, including Matt, Gerald Scarfe and Arnold Roth.
I am fortunate enough to live in England's Lake District whilst my work is published around the globe.
