I loved the film, I love this CD!,

I actually purchased this CD by mistake. I had originally wanted the other Soundtrack (the one with the words!) I realized I made the error only after I took the plastic off the CD-- oops! Well, for once, one of my mistakes worked to my favor! This CD is excellent. I did see the film and I loved it. The film itself totally exceeded my expectations and I hightly recommend you renting it. This CD creates a certain aviance-- perhaps a rainy evening best describes it's alluring charm. It's wonderful background music when you have guests over and want to create a "relaxed" atmosphere-- it's very condusive to conversation. I've owned this CD for about a year now and still enjoy it.

This brilliant score has become part and parcel of my psyche and heart, and boosts this film to the highest plain. If you ever have been in love, or have lost another, this wildly romantic score will become yours as well.

Better then most any other score!!,

Ok ok..don't get me wrong Titanic's score was great, but Great Expectation's score is full of different moods. While titanic was full of love and the fear of the sinking, this one is quite different. Throughout the score the different themes come alive, from love, betrayal, regret, greed, and forgiveness at the end. This is one of the most beautiful scores I have listened to in a long time. "Estella's Theme" is just beautiful, and I usually don't like guitar, but it's just enchanting! AS with "Kissing in the Rain" I feel chills every time I hear it! Just shut off all the lights and lay down and listen to this score! You can just imagine yourself there and feeling what the characters felt! It's just amazing! a 5+ star!!

Patrick Doyle takes you on a musical flight,

This music picks you up and takes you away into romatic daydreams , still it is clear and very awake. I think the song : "Kissing in the rain" should have become a great hit ! It has everything to fill your heart with joy. Patrick Doyle , he must have been in love when he wrote this score. Also listen to "Much ado about nothing".

Stylish and romantic -- just like the film,

First off, let me say that I enjoyed very much this stylish version of Great Expectations (the movie). Certain scenes, as mentioned in other reviews, are very passionate and the music fitted them perfectly (cue Track 8, which everybody is raving about -- it is beautiful, and the reason I bought the CD).However, the score as a whole does not stand comfortably alone as an easy-listening, romantic experience, you've got to have watched the film to connect to the music. After listening many times to track 8 and the rest of the CD, I found I didn't "come back for more"! On the positive side, the sleeve notes tell us how Patrick Doyle came to write the music -- and that is a story well worth reading. Also, quite possibly, this CD can act as a great present for someone you are courting. As a friend said, the music comes across as very "sexy" -- of course, he really meant "passionate and romantic".

The soundtrack has the most beautiful pieces of music that i have ever heard. You can only truly feel the beauty of it while watching the movie. Kssing in the rain and Estella's theme are just beyond all words. I would listen to them over and over and watch the movie over and over. For all you romantics out there, this is a must.

Full of My Favorites! (Especially John Williams),

Movie and Art was good. Yes, I even bought VHS tape. But after I saw movie, the question 'Who Made this Music?' remained in my mind. I checked and found John Williams, Miriam Stockley (of Karl Jenkins' Adiemus) and Cesaria Evora in the list of artists. All are my favorites. I also came to know Cynus Chesnut that I'll try some of his works. I also recommend strongly soundtrack of "Much Ado about Nothing" from Patrick Doyle's works.

I loved what Patrick Doyle did for the soundtrack of A Little Princess, and so I wasn't surprised to find out he created this one as well. This score is beautiful, and that's an understatement. I also love "Kissing In The Rain" the most, of course- it stands wonderfully well on its own, but who can forget that stunning scene in the movie? It was so dreamy and surreal, and that song was THE perfect background. Words really cannot express how much I love this. Definitely stirs passion!

Expect the Great from Great Expectations,

This is a terrific score album, one of the best I have ever heard. Once again, Patrick Doyle did a fantastic job in composing the music for a movie, after demonstrating his talent for "Indochine."In fact, one of the reasons why people feel attracted to Great Expectations maybe because of its music. "Estella's Theme" runs throughout the whole album, and it is a beautiful melody. The Soundtrack of Great Expectations is also worth to put to your collection. |
