5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a good book for multiple allergies!
We have several other food allergy cookbooks, and the recipes are OK. Recipes from books like the "Gluten-Free Gourmet" often require substitutions for milk or eggs and don't turn out as good as they might without those substitutions.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok
My son - age 1 - was recently diagnosed with allergies - wheat, egg, peanut, milk - so I thought this cookbook was THE answer. Well, it sort of is. The recipies are completely written with my son's allergies in mind. However, the recipies/results are just ok. The muffins are great when they come out of the oven. After a day they taste like sand. I realize I am used to...

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a good book for multiple allergies!, February 5, 2004
We have several other food allergy cookbooks, and the recipes are OK. Recipes from books like the "Gluten-Free Gourmet" often require substitutions for milk or eggs and don't turn out as good as they might without those substitutions.

The recipes in "Great Foods Without Worry" are written for those with multiple food allergies (wheat, dairy, egg, and nuts) and come out excellent. For the first time (and after four years of trying!) we have baked goods that are safe for our daughter and we feel are actually as good as the "normal" ones. We love this book!

Another reviewer mentioned the use of margarine in these recipes. It's true that most margarine brands contain dairy, but not all of them do. Shop around and do some searches and there are a number there are dairy free.

5.0 out of 5 stars great for food allergies!, January 1, 2004
By A Customer
Cindy's recipes are fantastic! Not only are they truly delicious, but extremely helpful when dealing with a diet limited by food allergies. Her recipes are the first wheat-free recipes I have tried that aren't taste-free!Something I also found helpful was the fact that almost all the recipes use the same basic ingredients, so once you have a few of the different flours, you can pretty much make almost any reipe in the book. I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous--It Really Works!, July 25, 2005

Not only do the recipies come out well, but this book has a glossary of different flours and foods that can be used to substitute for more common foods. If you are new to learning to cooking and baking for food allergies (as I am), you will find this information accessible and invaluable. I bought a few books as soon as we realized how severe my son's food allergies are. In the end, I've only used this one so far.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a good buy., July 13, 2005
This review is from: Great Foods Without Worry: More than 90 Delicious Recipes without Wheat, (Paperback)
I've now made 4 recipes from this book and all of them have turned out very well, they look and taste very similar to their conventional counterparts. The instructions are easy to follow, the ingredients fairly easy to find and the measurements are good too. So far I can recommend her chocolate chip cookies, the basic muffin recipe, the double chocolate cookies and the double chocolate muffins. I will however say that personally I do not like brown rice flour, which the author uses in nearly every baked good. For whatever reason the brown rice flour I've purchased has been gritty, so I'll probably be using white rice flour in the future instead of the recommended brown rice.

This recipe book is great for my child. He's allergic to wheat, soy, milk, eggs, and peanuts and this cookbook provides all kinds of recipes without his allergy triggers. I would highly recommend it for Moms with kids like mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lifesaver cookbook, September 2, 2008
This review is from: Great Foods Without Worry: More than 90 Delicious Recipes without Wheat, (Paperback)
I bought this cookbook after reading the reviews on Amazon. Such a Great cookbook! I wanted to Thank Cindy Moseley for taking the time to create these recipes and putting a cookbook together. This cookbook has made it effortless in providing yummy recipes for my daughter who is allergic to eggs, wheat and soy. I didn't buy the brown rice flour as one reviewer said it was gritty so I just use white rice flour instead. Chapter 1 provides allergy info, glossary of ingredients, basic tools needed and staple ingredients that I found very informative. Then in the back of the book she provides how to read labels. This cookbook informed me and gave me the tools I needed to cook Great Foods Without Worry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!!, May 10, 2008
This review is from: Great Foods Without Worry: More than 90 Delicious Recipes without Wheat, (Paperback)
My kid has several severe allergies. I am just an average cook and baker. Because of his allergies I have to learn to bake. This book is wonderful. I could get baking goods with excelent flavor and consistency at the first intent.I used earth balance in the receipes that ask for margarine and the flavor is just perfect. I highly recommend this book. Specially because I am not pretty good at baking, it was a huge surprise how everything came out perfect and delicious. The most important thing it is the receipes do not include anything my kid is allergic and the flavor is good. I tried before another receipes and special flour mixes prepackages and I had to put all in the trash. I was disappointed of my baking free allergies intents until I found this book. My kid can eat cookies and brownies again.

The recipies are completely written with my son's allergies in mind. However, the recipies/results are just ok. The muffins are great when they come out of the oven. After a day they taste like sand. I realize I am used to eating traditional recipies and that these are modified and are probably as close to the "real thing" as we are going to get but I just wish the results were better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best Allergy Cookbook If You Can Eat Wheat, June 14, 2006
This review is from: Great Foods Without Worry: More than 90 Delicious Recipes without Wheat, (Paperback)
For those people who can eat wheat, I would not reccommend this cookbook. I purchased it shortly after my son was diagnosed with multiple food allergies (wheat was not one). The recipes call for lots of ingredients that I do not normally purchase or have on hand (xanthan gum, tapioca flour, brown rice flour, potato starch, etc.).
