best minneapolis music since prince,

Its so hard to explain this band beyond simply brilliant. The vocals are soulful and are conveyed in such a manner that you actually FEEL something from the recording. The music is beautiful, even the almost blatant Young MC bass line sample. It just works, and the whole album has a sense of completeness to it.

One of my desert island discs,

This is an album I keep coming back to over the years, and it always amazes me. I only wish that I could single-handedly convince everyone in the world to give this album (and the next album, under the name "Luminous") a chance.

world trip,

Actually, the lead singer's voice is closer to Souxsie of Souxsie and the Banshees than Portishead. The first track sucks you in!!! This CD is close to the trip-hop production of Bowery Electric's "Lush Life" in crackling vinyl sounds cradling electronic beats and bleeps. This is an excellent debut, but they have room to grow. And I look forward to it.

If you are tired of the same old thing and are looking for something to immerse your self in then there is one of 2 albums you must own.
(The second being Luminous - Luminous) Paul Robb - Founding member of the 80's band "Information Society" ** Supplies the "Trip-Hop" soundtrack Barbara Cohen - a folk singer by trade melds pefectly into the rhythm's created by Paul Robb. Long before Evenescence blended Classical Singing with Heavy metal Music, Brother Sun Sister Moon (a.k.a. Luminous) Blended Techno and Trip-Hop with a Folk singer to make some of the best and most interesting music that I have come across in years. ** By the way Information Society fans, the comeback is just around the bend [...]

Simpy Amazing,

Never have I heard such a moving mixture of heavy beats, mellow music, and chilling but heavenly singing. Barbara Cohen's voice is perfect, and the whole CD itself is easily one of my all time favorites. A MUST have.

Hypnotising,

I'm not a music reviewer, so I can't really explain the ins and outs of why I like this album so much, I just do. While Barbara Cohen's recorded voice isn't QUITE as awesome as her live voice, she still manages to send a chill down my spine at times. I am also a big Portishead fan, so this may appeal to you if you like them as well. I can't praise this album enough.

Straight ahead trip hop,

Not much variability to the sound and flow of the album. Don't think this CD could convert people to listen to trip hop but I consider it worth the money. ten times better than Paul Robb's Think Tank project.

impressive debut release in the trip-hop vein,
By A Customer
This review is from: Great Game (Audio CD)
Paul Robb (ala Info Society and also Think Tank) and Barb Cohen (ala Barb Cohen and Little Lizard and also Farm Accident) have created a most impessive and moving creation with Brother Sun Sister Moon. The style is mostly trip-hop with a bit of world flavor to it (as reflected in their song titles). Barb Cohen's vocals are just unbelievable -- soaring, chilling, soothing -- on top of Paul Robb's tripped out beats and grooves. This group takes trip hop and makes their own unique version. Snatched up by a major label only a scant few months after their debut, I'm guessing you'll be hearing much more from this band. Just give one of the tracks a listen and you'll need to hear the others. (And they also put on a darn fine live performance as well!)

also check out....,
This review is from: Great Game (Audio CD)
hello, just a hint: if you like this album, also check out Hometime by Alison Moyet . She made an exquisit popalbum with a trippy edge to it. She colabborated with the men behind Massive Attack and Goldfrapp (also a must have by the way :-)
