The book has formulas that help plants. Such as, pest control and natural fertalizers. It also give you recipes for herbal shampoos and condtiononers. Great Book. :)

This is a great book, from cover to cover. It is full of handy hints. I am a first time gardener and this book helped me a great deal throughout the gardening season. There's also a great section on herbs!

This wonderful book is full of easy and useful ideas. It is pleasant to read, nicely illustrated, and oh so practical. I am buying a second copy to share!

This is the book that every gardener should own. Suggestions, formulas and recipes abound in this very pleasant to read publication.

I had originally purchased this book as a way to battle common garden diseases and pests, but I was pleasantly surprised at the inclusion of information on herbs and cooking, beneficial insects and birds, home remedies, garden designs and soil improvement.

Good gardening wisdom is timeless, so although this book was published in 1998, the information it contains is as valuable today as it was 11 years ago. I would highly recommend this book.

This book contains everything you need to know, from composting, worms, fertilizers, etc. Great simple, easy to use instructions.

This is such a fun book with loads of information about all sorts of gardening tips. Everything from organic pest control to making herb-scented foot and body warmers. This book will keep you very busy perfecting what you already know, and learning how to use things from your garden to please the creatures around your yard as well as friends and family. There are recipes to make Birdsong granola and also natural soap and herbal tea. Even composting and natural fertilizer. Easy to follow and arranged in sections, with illustrations and a very handy list of resources in the back. Even if you have other gardening books, this one is a must for other projects involving the garden!

This book is great for the do-it-yourself gardener. Filled with good information and ideas, that are, of course, all organic. I had checked it out from our local library, and knew I had to get my own copy.

I found this gem at a used book sale. I was about to put it back after looking at the date figuring there most likely is newer information out there on the Internet. After thumbing through it, most of these formulas are still useful today.

Whether you want to learn how to more effectively compost your waste, create home brewed fertilizers, find solutions to pests, diseases, and weeds you'll find something here to help you out. The book also has recipes or formulas for attracting birds, butterflies, and beneficial insects. What had me heading to the check out though was a really nice section on salves, balms, and home remedies as well as a bunch of herbal concoctions for cooking and for crafts.

The formula I plan to try immediately is the one called "Dog-Gone Potion" which is suppose to discourage/stop dogs from digging in the yard. I have a four year old Irish Wolfhound who has dug some really nice craters in the yard and as fast as I fill them she digs them up again. So I'm really interested to see if this helps. The ingredients include garlic, onion, tabsco sauce, cayenne pepper and water--easy to find, inexpensive to buy! Wish me luck!
