Short biographies of some great generals.,

An interesting read. The author Uffindell offers a perspective of great generals of the Napoleonic era. Some I agree with, others I don't. In this book, 14 generals are reviewed, with a focus on ten. I'm not sure Napoleon's stepson rates as a great general (though he was loyal). I am also not sure why he feels Ney and Murat do not rate in his category. However the author does a good job of detailing the lives of these generals, and one battle illustrating the general's greatness.This is an interesting read. There are so many books about the Napoleonic Wars, but the short biographies were very interesting. The battle examples brought out how battles were fought 190 years ago. A nice read. |
