Editorial Reviews

Try to remember what the British rock scene was like before Raging Speedhorn. Go on. Hard, isn’t it? Let us help you out. The British rock scene was dying. It was made up of dribbling metal boys bellowing a whole lot of nothing, empty-headed grunge kids prostrating themselves at the shrine of Saint Kurt, fey indie waifs with featherlight haircuts and featherweight tunes. Raging Speedhorn didn’t just change all that. They strapped a landmine to its chest, rammed a grenade into its mouth, and blew it all to Kingdom Come.

This year sees the release of their awe-inspiring third album, How The Great Have Fallen. Produced by Queens Of The Stone Age associate Joe Baresi, How The Great Have Fallen is their mightiest album yet. Such spectacularly savage tracks as A Different Shade Of Shit, Slay The Coward, Dead Man Walking and Don’t Let The Bastards Grind You Down show that they’ve lost none of their bite. This is the sound of angry men making violent music for unhinged people. Raging Speedhorn have already redefined the face of metal. With How The Great Have Fallen, they’ve done it yet again. Are you with them?

4.0 out of 5 stars Raging Speedhorn finally get up to speed!, May 28, 2005

I agree with Kerrang! magazine's review of the new Raging Speedhorn CD saying that although the band have been out of the limelight for 3 yrs, this is bar-none their best release! I saw RS at Reading Festival a few years ago (the set before Dilliger Escape Plan got a bit nasty with the audience)...and I've enjoyed their music ever since! Think Sepultura meets Soulfly playing old old Black Sabbath (especially on the monolithic "Don't Let the Bastards Grind You Down". Some will say that the scream-core factor gets a bit tired after awhile but I found this one much more palatable than their last album. RS actually pay homage to KISS doing a pretty faithful rendition of "God of Thunder" that would make Gene Simmons proud!! If you like it loud, heavy and more that a bit on the scream-core side, the new and improved Raging Speedhorn will not dissappoint!!
