How the Spanish saw the California Indians,
By R. Bagula "Roger L. Bagula" (Lakeside, Ca United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Great Indians of California (Paperback)
Although presented as a coloring book, this book presents a unique history
of early California. I was left with the question of how a people invaded by superior force should react to those taking their land from them? We see in California history, the case of a two fold conquest. First the Spanish come in and subdue stone age level native American, then American from the east come in and for the sake of gold subdue the Mexicans and rob them wholesale as if they were native Americans. We see that the Spanish respected most those Indians who fought them the hardest, but the genocide of the native Americans happened just as in other places, no matter the resistance.
