Narrator Benjamin Soames's unhurried tones of quiet wonder add drama to the stories of men who influenced history with their gadgets. While Soames uses a factual style of delivery, his presentation is well suited to the extended biographies, and his voice reveals personal interest in the subject matter that will surely be transferred to listeners. The period music separating the inventors' biographies is an effective addition. Even listeners who don't usually choose nonfiction audio will find something to fascinate them. My 11 year old and I listened to this in the car. Very interesting stories about a variety of scientists. Only downfall is the british accent which my son didn't understand at times, I personally enjoyed it!
