The sourcebook for the period,

This review is from: Great Issues in American History, Vol. II: From the Revolution to the Civil War, 1765-1865 (Paperback)
This book contains the most important and pivotal documents of the period, as well as just enough insightful background to the period to allow a better than average understanding of the document. For fans of the Constitution and the judiciary, the sections on the convention and Marbury v Madison are simply candy. The Gettysburg Address and its supporting section are heartbreaking.
