Interesting, but limited,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Great Jobs for Psychology Majors (Vgm's Great Jobs Series) (Paperback)
DeGalen and Lambert have produced a book that I will recommend to undergraduates, but there are problems. On p. xvii they mention that "a high proportion of members of APA do have doctorates..." Well, all do. There are some associate membership categories. D & L also say that APA members do "not necessarily [have] medical degrees." Well, few do. This sloppy phrasing raises questions about the authors' accuracy. My second general comment is that they do overlook the place of applied research for psychology majors--either at the bachelor or more frequently at the master's level. But I will recommend it because our students do need help in thinking about careers

Great Resource for Career Exploration, Entry-Level Job Seekers,
By Erin "barondove" (Cincinnati, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Great Jobs for Psychology Majors (Paperback)
This book is all about entry-level jobs. New graduates with a bachelor's in social services or those who've been working awhile in another field and are considering a career change would both benefit from reading this book. It gives overviews of different types of jobs, and for each job it includes: tasks & responsibilities, possible employers, job titles, sample classified ads, traits an employer would be looking for, salary, advancement opportunities, and more! Most jobs require minimal education or experience. There's also a section on getting the job, including information about interviewing.

Great Jobs for Psychology Majors,
By A Customer
This review is from: Great Jobs for Psychology Majors (Paperback)
I would not recomend this book, as it does not include the inoformation that I had anticipated. I was disappointed overall and think it's safe to assume that there are better resources out there. The book included a lot of basic information, like how to write a resume/ cover letter and interviewing information. I initially purchased the book in hopes of re-examining my options in the field, since my degree is in psychology, however this was not the right resource for doing that.
