This book does a great job of capturing the author's knowledge and transmitting it to others. The writing is clear, the pictures are excellent. He even manages to convey some of his over-the-top enthusiasm for this sport and these fish.

This book is outstanding. It has everything you need to know about fishing for steelhead and salmon around the Great Lakes in one neat package. The photos, graphics and text are clear, right to the point and easy to understand. I have a shelf full of books on this subject. All are good, but If I was to be asked to suggest just one...this would be it. It has gear set up suggestions for all the different river system types and conditions you may encounter. From dead drifting indicators to swinging with single or two handed long rods, to bottom bouncing and Chuck n' Duck. The why when, and where to use them. It also has some smashing fly patterns. Many, you'll find in my own fly box.

Karl Weixlmann has taken his vast guiding experience, love of fishing for steelhead and his exuberance for life and the world of fishing and put it all into this book. It is a wonderful exciting read and "steelheaders", experienced or inexperienced need to read it and learn.

Nice guide book for anyone interested in flyfishing for steelhead. Nice pictures and the book is full of advice on tecniques and fly patterns.
