If you feel the need to relax and have all your worries washed away, then put on this cd. The wonderfully calming, beautifully composed music will calm and soothe, and the wonderful sounds of the lakes and various wildlife, including many species of birds and frogs will make you feel that you are there. A wonderful album to daydream by. And track 10 will transport you to Niagara Falls. If you have never been there, you will feel as if you have, after listening to this. Truly awe-inspiring!

I have been using a number of "Solitudes" CDs for my work in gerontology and I can safely say this is one of the best. The relaxation combined with the familiarity of Strauss' work, simply makes the CD very effective for relaxation. I highly recommend it for eveyone regardless of age.

I love all kinds of music, but this is my very favorite CD. It's very soft and relaxing without being schmaltzy, and it's a nice one to listen to while I get my son ready for bed. The sound effects make you feel like you are right there in the great outdoors, and when combined with the beautifully orchestrated music, it makes a good soundtrack to those quiet moments in your life--or those moments when life needs to be a little more quiet.

I've listened to many nature music CD's and I always come back to this one. Having grown up in Michigan, I love all of the famaliar sounds of the various birds and wild life. If you like soft soothing music with sounds of the great outdoors seamlessly blended together, you'll really like this one. I thinks it's Best in Class.

Not only my favorite, but also my first Dan Gibson CD, "Great Lakes Suite" is a masterpiece. This is a wonderful piece to listen to when you need to relax, are having trouble getting to sleep, or any such reason. My only complaint is that occasionally the transition between the various pieces of music sounds forced.

love this cd, the music is stunning ,of course the nature sounds are nice if you;re looking for that. as with most nature sounds-you usually don't get such great soothing music that goes with it.

If you like the sound of water,then I highly recommend this CD. This CD is truly a Great Lakes experience with the sound of small rivers to the Great Lakes to even the sound of the Niagara Falls. The music that is set to the sound of the water is very soothing and relaxing. A beautiful compilation.

I previously owned a copy of this cd and don't know what happened to it. It is a great relaxing sound, not too annoying.

Having grown up in Michigan I'm somewhat familiar with the many moods of the Great Lakes.

Dan and Gordon Gibson and crew take us on a magnificent journey from Lake Superior to Lake Ontario and capture some of the best collection of bird sounds I have ever heard. Chirps of little birds going about their business to entire gaggles of geese in joyous chorus en route to some far off destination are beautifully combined with small waves gently caressing the sugar sand to the majesty of the mighty Niagara Falls plummeting to the chasm below and then further until we float out onto beautiful Lake Ontario. Soothing music is interwoven to make this a masterpiece of sound tapestry. I found this CD in a nice shoppe in northern Wisconsin on a trip back to Michigan three years ago. They were playing it as background music and I had to have it. SO GLAD I made the purchase. In the past three years I have played The Great Lakes Suite easily more that 500 times--maybe closer to a thousand times. I rarely remove it from the player. My cat, Lacey, loves the birds, and when she has had a rough day (dogs, angry squirrels giving her heck, fireworks, air shows) she likes to find solace in this wonderful creation as much as I do. Great for playing while working, composing letters (it's playing right now!) or peacefully snoozing. You probably get it by now: this is one of my very favorite CDs.

There are certain times when one's soul needs to be bathed in soothing atmosphere. Rock N Roll or even moderate jazz just will not due. In cases of total relaxation, Dan Gibson's Great Lakes Suite is the perfect antitdote to stress and gets me a peaceful even heavenly mood.

Its certainly quite relaxing to hear water trickling with the natural sounds of birds in the background. The transition to water gushing over Niagara Falls changes the mood to a even more ellaborate texture. Stress seems to ooze out of my body and it causes much peaceful reflection. A natural cure all to those trying times.
